Last GKS Katowice Coachs
Rafał Górak is the current head coach of GKS Katowice, having begun his latest tenure on 1 June 2019. His appointment is the clear anchor of the club’s recent coaching timeline. Dariusz Dudek followed a spell from October 2018 to May 2019, while Jakub Dziółka is listed for September to October 2018. Transfers Synthesis
Across the recorded period, the recorded movement picture shows GKS Katowice adding players through several mechanisms rather than one route. The arrivals include transfers, loans, free-agent agreements, free transfers and returns from loan. The most recent June 2026 entries combine transfers from Legia Warszawa, Korona Kielce and Motor Lublin with a loan from Widzew Łódź, a free-agent arrival from Chrobry Głogów and a return from Pogoń Siedlce. Departures in the same broad cycle include loans, transfers, free-agent exits, free transfers and players returning to former clubs. Examples include Ł. Trepka’s loan, M. Kuusk’s move to Polonia Warszawa and A. Buksa’s return to Gornik Zabrze. Because both lists are limited recent activity selections, they indicate movement patterns without establishing a complete balance or net change.
Leagues GKS Katowice has participated in
GKS Katowice’s most recent recorded competitions are the Cup, Ekstraklasa and Friendlies Clubs, each extending through 2025 in the available history. The Cup is recorded from 2019, while Ekstraklasa appears from 2024, matching the club’s latest top-flight phase. Friendlies Clubs entries run from 2020. I Liga is historical in this record, spanning 2018 to 2023, and II Liga East is also historical, covering 2019 and 2020. The competition history therefore shows both recent top-level participation and earlier lower-division phases, without establishing a 2026 schedule.
More about GKS Katowice
GKS Katowice is a Polish football club from Katowice, founded in 1964. It operates as a joint-stock company, while GKS Katowice and the nickname GieKSa remain its familiar sporting names. Gold, green and black define its visual identity, appearing across the club’s crest and traditional kit designs. GKS is rooted in the football culture of Upper Silesia, a region whose industrial and coal-mining heritage has shaped the character of local sporting institutions. The club’s miners’ sports heritage places it within that wider working-class landscape. Its identity is therefore more than a city label: it connects professional football in Katowice with the regional community and the historic networks of Silesian sport. The club has moved through several levels of Polish football. Its history includes extended periods in the Ekstraklasa, rebuilding phases in lower divisions and recent top-flight participation. The honours associated with its established history include multiple Polish Cup and Polish SuperCup victories, together with runner-up finishes in the national championship. GKS has also represented Polish football in European club competition qualifying campaigns, particularly during successful late-twentieth-century eras. Those milestones provide a durable historical backdrop without reducing the club to past results. Home football is now associated with Arena Katowice, a modern municipal stadium complex in the city. The venue succeeded the historic Stadion GKS Katowice, widely known as the Bukowa ground, which served as the club’s spiritual home through decades of regional and national competition. This transition links a contemporary setting with a recognisable place in club memory. The company structure, Silesian roots, distinctive colours, long football history and evolving home venue give GKS Katowice a clear place in Poland’s professional football ecosystem.
