Federico Santiago Valverde Dipetta

Federico Santiago Valverde Dipetta is a Uruguayan central midfielder born in Montevideo on July 22, 1998. He developed in Uruguay before joining Real Madrid in 2016. During 2016–17, Valverde played 30 matches for Real Madrid Castilla and scored three goals. He then joined Deportivo La Coruña on loan for 2017–18, making 25 appearances as the club was relegated. After returning to Madrid, he made his official first-team debut against Viktoria Plzeň in October 2018. Valverde has operated as a box-to-box midfielder while also covering wide and defensive roles, using his right foot to progress play and support pressing. He has represented Uruguay and, in the 2020 Spanish Supercopa final, was sent off for stopping Álvaro Morata before Real Madrid won on penalties. In the 2022 Champions League final, Valverde supplied the assist for Vinícius Júnior’s winning goal against Liverpool.
