Transfers Synthesis
The recorded movement pattern shows a squad assembled through several mechanisms rather than one transfer route. The latest arrivals combine two loans, a transfer entry for C. Carty and a free-agent arrival for Zak Gilsenan. The same record includes multiple players returning from temporary spells, alongside earlier loans from clubs such as York, Oldham, Sunderland Under-21, Stoke City and Newcastle. Departures also feature loan returns, fresh loans to regional sides, free-agent moves and one destination listed as Hume City without a transfer type. The overlap around names such as M. Wright, T. Pugh, J. Jenkins and J. Griffin reflects movement at different dates, not a single event. Because the displayed arrivals and departures are partial samples, they indicate the shape of recorded activity through that date rather than a complete balance or definitive net movement.
Leagues FC Halifax Town has participated in
The recorded competition footprint includes the FA Cup, FA Trophy, National League, National League Cup and club friendlies, with recent activity indicated through 2025. The FA Cup and FA Trophy entries run from 2011, while National League participation is recorded from 2013. Club friendlies appear from 2020, and the National League Cup from 2024. These are domestic competitions, and there is no recorded continental competition entry. The latest recorded year for each is 2025, making them recent historical entries rather than confirmation of the 2026-27 schedule.
More about FC Halifax Town
FC Halifax Town, officially Football Club Halifax Town, is based in Halifax, West Yorkshire, England. Founded in 2008, it is the town’s modern senior football club and a phoenix successor to the original Halifax Town A.F.C., which was founded in 1911 before administration and dissolution brought that earlier story to an end. The modern club preserved the town’s football identity and climbed back through the English pyramid, establishing itself in the National League tier of non-League football.
The club’s home is The Shay, on the southern side of Halifax and close to the town centre. The multi-purpose ground holds just over 10,000 people and combines historic features, including the Skircoat Stand, with modern terraces. Its long association with football and rugby league gives the venue a wider place in local sporting life. Halifax’s nickname, the Shaymen, comes directly from the ground, while blue and white remain the defining club colors. Badge imagery and visual traditions are closely tied to Halifax’s municipal identity.
FC Halifax Town operates within the domestic English game, with the National League connecting its level of competition to the wider professional pyramid and the English Football League above. Its recorded competition footprint includes the FA Cup and FA Trophy, both important national knockout settings, alongside league football, the National League Cup and club friendlies. There is no continental football footprint associated with the club.
The club’s governance is described as community-anchored and privately administered, with local operational leadership and financial stability carrying particular importance after the predecessor’s difficulties. That combination of civic identity, a shared historic ground and pragmatic non-League infrastructure defines Halifax’s place in English football: a phoenix club with a distinct local character and a national competitive role.
