Thomas Müller

Thomas Müller is a German attacking midfielder born in Weilheim on 13 September 1989. He began playing with TSV Pähl before joining Bayern Munich’s academy at age 10, progressing through the club’s youth ranks. Müller made his senior debut for Bayern during the 2008–09 season and established himself under Louis van Gaal. At the 2010 World Cup, he won the Golden Boot and the Best Young Player award. He became a central figure in Bayern’s treble-winning 2013 and 2020 teams, contributing through intelligent movement, pressing and timely runs into the area. Known for the term “Raumdeuter”, Müller interprets space as an attacking midfielder, combining scanning, positional flexibility and link play rather than relying on elaborate dribbling. After a long Bayern career, Thomas Müller moved to Vancouver Whitecaps in 2025, beginning a new MLS chapter while remaining listed with the MLS All-Stars.
