Teun Koopmeiners

Teun Koopmeiners is a Dutch midfielder born in Amsterdam on 28 February 1998. He began at Vitesse '22 before joining AZ Alkmaar’s academy in 2009, developing through the club’s youth system. At AZ, Koopmeiners progressed into the first team, captained the side, and scored 15 goals in the 2020–21 season, when he was named Eredivisie Player of the Season. He moved to Atalanta in August 2021, where his duties developed from deeper midfield work into more advanced attacking roles. Koopmeiners helped Atalanta win the 2023–24 UEFA Europa League, the club’s first European trophy. For the Netherlands, he featured at the 2022 FIFA World Cup and supplied the disguised free-kick assist for Wout Weghorst’s equaliser against Argentina. In August 2024, Koopmeiners joined Juventus, where he remains a versatile midfield option.
