Scot Whiteside

Scot Whiteside is a Northern Irish defender born in Garvagh on 16 June 1997. He began at Bertie Peacock Youths before spending three years in the Linfield academy. At 16, Whiteside moved to Rangers, where he developed in the club’s youth ranks, and he later joined Partick Thistle’s development team in 2015. Returning to Northern Ireland in 2016, he signed for Derry City and subsequently spent the 2017–18 season on loan at Coleraine, making 19 appearances. In 2018 he joined Ballymena United, establishing himself as a senior Premiership defender and gaining experience in Europa League qualifying. Whiteside missed the 2020–21 and 2021–22 seasons through injury before returning to competitive football. Standing 1.88 metres tall, he is described as a ball-winning centre-back whose game combines defensive work with composed distribution. He is currently registered with Ballymena United.
