Ricardo Iván Rodríguez Araya

Ricardo Iván Rodríguez Araya is a Swiss left-back born in Zürich in 1992. He joined FC Zürich at 11, won the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup, and made his senior debut in March 2010. In January 2012, Rodríguez moved to VfL Wolfsburg, where he developed into an attacking full-back noted for precise crossing and set-piece delivery. His Wolfsburg spell included a 2016 Champions League quarter-final victory over Real Madrid, in which he scored a penalty. Rodríguez transferred to AC Milan in 2017, combining defensive work with build-up involvement during his time in Italy. From 2020 to 2024, he represented Torino and increasingly operated as a left-sided centre-back in a back three. He later joined Real Betis, while his international career has included appearances for Switzerland at the 2014, 2018 and 2022 World Cups and the 2016, 2020 and 2024 European Championships.
