Peer Koopmeiners

Peer Koopmeiners is a Dutch midfielder who developed through AZ Alkmaar’s academy after joining it in 2009. He progressed through the club’s youth system and became a regular for Jong AZ in the Eerste Divisie, gaining extensive experience in a holding midfield role. On October 17, 2020, Koopmeiners scored his first professional goal against Jong Ajax. In January 2023, he moved to Excelsior Rotterdam on loan before joining Almere City for the 2023/24 season. There, he supplied nine assists in 31 league appearances, contributing from a central midfield position. He returned to AZ Alkmaar for the 2024/25 season and is currently listed with the club. Koopmeiners is valued for his positional awareness, passing and ability to support build-up play while contributing defensively through interceptions and pressing. At 1.86 metres, he also offers physical presence in midfield and has developed from a Jong AZ regular into an Eredivisie midfielder.
