Owen Wijndal

Owen Wijndal is a Dutch left-back born in Zaandam on 28 November 1999. He developed at ZVV Zaandijk and HFC Haarlem before joining the AZ Alkmaar academy at age ten. Wijndal progressed through the Netherlands’ youth teams from Under-15 level and made his AZ first-team debut as a teenager in 2017. He established himself during the 2019–20 season, contributing from the left with overlapping and underlapping runs. Across six seasons with AZ, he made 143 appearances and later wore the captain’s armband. In 2022, Wijndal moved to Ajax, where he continued competing for a first-team role as an attacking full-back. He then joined Antwerp on loan for the 2023–24 season, gaining Champions League experience before returning to Ajax. His game combines forward running, key passes and recovery pace, while defensive consistency remains an area of focus.
