Nemanja Gudelj

Nemanja Gudelj is a Serbian centre-back whose career has also included a substantial spell as a defensive midfielder. Born in Belgrade in 1991, he developed in the Netherlands and signed his first professional contract with NAC Breda in 2009. He moved to AZ Alkmaar in 2013, where his energetic midfield play and long-range shooting helped establish him as a leading player and captain. Gudelj joined Ajax in 2015 before continuing his career with Tianjin TEDA and Guangzhou Evergrande in China. A loan to Sporting CP in 2018/19 brought the Taça de Portugal and Taça da Liga, after which he joined Sevilla on a free transfer in 2019. At Sevilla, Gudelj has increasingly operated at centre-back, using strength, positioning and composed short passing to support build-up play. He has also represented Serbia internationally and helped Sevilla win the Europa League in 2020 and 2023.
