Mario Götze

Mario Götze is a German attacking midfielder, born in Memmingen on 3 June 1992. He joined Borussia Dortmund’s youth system at eight and made his senior debut at 17 under Jürgen Klopp. Götze helped Dortmund win consecutive Bundesliga titles in 2011 and 2012, plus the DFB-Pokal in 2012, before moving to Bayern München in 2013. At Bayern, he added three Bundesliga titles and featured in the 2014 World Cup final, entering as a substitute and scoring Germany’s extra-time winner against Argentina. He returned to Dortmund in 2016, but a myopathy diagnosis in 2017 led to a seven-month absence from football. In 2020, Götze moved to PSV Eindhoven, where he developed a deeper creative role and renewed his career. He joined Eintracht Frankfurt in 2022 and has since been used as a composed passer and versatile midfielder.
