Lawrence Ati Zigi

Lawrence Ati Zigi is a Ghanaian goalkeeper born in Accra on 29 November 1996. He developed at the Red Bull Academy in Sogakope before moving to Austria in 2015, where he began his professional career with FC Liefering, Red Bull Salzburg’s feeder club. Although he did not establish himself as Salzburg’s first-choice goalkeeper, his time in the Red Bull system included a Bundesliga winner’s medal and a strong tactical education. In 2017, Zigi moved to French club Sochaux, spending three years in Ligue 2 with opportunities that were often limited. He joined FC St. Gallen in January 2020 and found a settled role in the Swiss Super League, becoming a regular presence for the club. Internationally, Zigi represented Ghana at under-17 and under-20 level, attended the 2019 and 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, and started all three of Ghana’s group matches at the 2022 World Cup. Known for reflex saves and proactive sweeper-keeper actions, Lawrence Ati Zigi was named Swiss goalkeeper of the season for 2022/23.
