Lukas Manuel Klostermann

Lukas Manuel Klostermann is a German defender born in Herdecke on 3 June 1996. He developed at FSV Gevelsberg and SSV Hagen before joining VfL Bochum, where he progressed through the youth teams and made his senior debut in 2014. Later that year, Klostermann moved to RB Leipzig, beginning a long association with the club as it rose from the 2. Bundesliga to the Bundesliga. Initially used mainly at right-back, he also demonstrated his versatility at left-back for Germany at the 2016 Olympic Games, helping the team win a silver medal. At Leipzig, Klostermann subsequently operated as a centre-back and in the right-sided role of a back three. His recovery pace, positioning and dependable clearances have suited Leipzig’s high defensive line, while he can also carry the ball forward in possession. Klostermann remains part of RB Leipzig’s squad and has won two DFB-Pokal titles with the club.
