Hobie Verhulst

Hobie Verhulst is a Dutch goalkeeper born in Amsterdam on 2 April 1993. He joined AZ Alkmaar’s academy from local club Kooger Football Club in 2004 and later won the Beloften Eerste Divisie with Jong AZ in 2013. After finding first-team opportunities limited at AZ, Verhulst moved to MVV Maastricht, where he made his professional debut against Sparta Rotterdam in February 2015. He then spent three seasons at FC Volendam, establishing himself as first choice and receiving the Supporters’ Player of the Year award in 2016–17. At Go Ahead Eagles, from 2018 to 2020, he won the Bronze Shield as the Eerste Divisie’s best goalkeeper of the first period in 2018–19. Verhulst returned to AZ in July 2020, initially serving as a deputy before starting 18 Eredivisie matches during the first half of 2022–23. He also featured in AZ’s Conference League campaign, including the match against Lazio in Rome, and remains part of the Alkmaar club.
