Guillermo Alfonso Maripán Loaysa
Guillermo Alfonso Maripán Loaysa is a Chilean centre-back who developed at Universidad Católica and made his professional debut there in 2012. He became a regular during the 2014–15 season and helped the club win two Chilean Primera División titles and the 2016 Chilean Super Cup. In July 2017, Maripán moved to Deportivo Alavés, beginning a two-year spell in La Liga. He joined Monaco in August 2019 and spent five seasons with the French club, becoming a regular defender and an important aerial presence. In August 2024, he transferred to Torino, continuing his career in Serie A. Maripán has also represented Chile since making his international debut in 2017, featuring in Copa América tournaments and World Cup qualifying campaigns. Right-footed and 190 centimetres tall, he contributes through positioning, aerial defending and composed short passing.
