Francis Odinaka Uzoho
Francis Odinaka Uzoho is a Nigerian goalkeeper born in Nwangele on 28 October 1998. He developed at Aspire Academy in Senegal before moving to Deportivo La Coruña’s youth system in 2016. Uzoho made his La Liga debut for Deportivo in October 2017, becoming the youngest foreign goalkeeper to appear in the competition, and kept a clean sheet against Eibar. His progress earned senior international recognition, and he started all three of Nigeria’s group matches at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. After leaving Spain, he continued his club career in Cyprus with Elche, APOEL Nicosia and Omonia Nicosia. A knee ligament injury suffered against Brazil in 2019 interrupted his development and affected his international standing. Uzoho remains part of Nigeria’s goalkeeping group and is registered with Omonia Nicosia.
