Carles Gil de Pareja Vicent

Carles Gil de Pareja Vicent is a Spanish attacking midfielder born in Valencia on 22 November 1992. He developed in Valencia’s academy and began his senior career with the club’s reserves before moving to Elche, where he helped the side return to La Liga. Gil later joined Aston Villa in January 2015, but the club’s relegation and managerial changes limited his progress. He returned to Spain with Deportivo La Coruña, where injuries and reduced playing time interrupted his development. In January 2019, Gil moved to the New England Revolution and became the club’s captain and creative focal point. He led New England to the 2021 Supporters’ Shield, producing a league-high 18 assists and earning the Landon Donovan MLS MVP Award. Known for incisive passing, chance creation and close control, Carles Gil has established a major role in the Revolution’s history.
