Alexandre Manuel Penetra Correia

Alexandre Penetra is a Portuguese centre-back born in Sátão on 9 September 2001. He developed with Os Pestinhas and CB Viseu before entering Benfica’s Seixal academy. In August 2020, Penetra moved to Famalicão and progressed into senior football. He made his Primeira Liga debut against Porto on 15 August 2021 and went on to record more than 70 appearances for the club. Primarily a central defender, he has also operated at right-back, offering positional versatility and contributing to build-up play through forward passing. Penetra joined AZ Alkmaar in the Netherlands in July 2023 after establishing himself in Portugal. He represented Portugal at the 2023 European Under-21 Championship, starting all three group matches against Georgia, the Netherlands and Romania.
