Ștefan Târnovanu

Ștefan Târnovanu is a Romanian goalkeeper born in Iași on 9 May 2000. He developed at Politehnica Iași and began senior football with Știința Miroslava, making his second-division debut on loan in March 2018. After returning to Politehnica, Târnovanu made his top-flight debut against Sepsi OSK in November 2018 and later had a loan spell with Sportul Snagov. FCSB signed him in 2020, initially placing him behind Andrei Vlad as he continued his development. In March 2022, Târnovanu took over the gloves and established himself as FCSB’s first-choice goalkeeper. During the 2023–24 campaign, he made 39 appearances and recorded 15 league clean sheets as FCSB won the national championship. Standing 1.97 metres tall, he combines reach and reflex saves with an increasingly proactive role, while also representing Romania at youth level.
