Yari Verschaeren

Yari Verschaeren is a Belgian attacking midfielder born on 12 July 2001 in Sint-Niklaas. He began his youth development with Kruibeke and SK Beveren before joining Anderlecht at age nine. After eight years in the Neerpede academy, he signed his first professional contract in 2017. Verschaeren made his Anderlecht first-team debut against Sint-Truiden on 25 November 2018, then appeared in Europe against Spartak Trnava four days later. He won the Belgian Young Player of the Year award in his breakthrough season and became the youngest scorer in European Under-21 Championship history. He made his senior Belgium debut in September 2019 and scored his first international goal against San Marino the following month. An ACL rupture in March 2023 interrupted his progress, but he later reached 150 appearances for Anderlecht and has also worn the captain’s armband.
