Yan Valery
Yan Valery is a French-born Tunisian right-back, born in Champigny-sur-Marne on 22 February 1999. He developed with AS Outre-Mer du Bois l’Abbé and Champigny FC 94 before joining Stade Rennais and moving to Southampton’s academy in 2015. Valery made his Southampton first-team debut in November 2018 and scored against Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur during the 2018–19 campaign. His performances earned him Southampton’s Young Player of the Season award that year. After illness disrupted his progress and a loan spell at Birmingham City in 2021, he left Southampton for Angers in 2022. Valery returned to England with Sheffield Wednesday in June 2024, where he reunited with former Southampton coach Danny Röhl. Primarily a right-back, he can also operate as a wing-back or wide centre-back and represents Tunisia internationally.
