Yannick Thoelen

Yannick Thoelen is a Belgian goalkeeper born in Tessenderlo on 18 July 1990. He developed at KFC Verbroedering Geel before progressing through the Belgian game with Lommel SK, where he established himself as a regular in the second tier. In 2015, Thoelen joined Gent and gained experience at a higher level, including involvement in the club’s European campaigns. Although often operating as a second-choice goalkeeper, he remained available for important matches and built experience against demanding opposition. He moved to KV Mechelen in 2019, where he produced influential performances and drew attention for a penalty save against Antwerp during the 2019–20 season. In January 2025, Thoelen joined Antwerp, adding experienced goalkeeping cover and leadership to the squad. At 1.88 metres, he is primarily valued for shot-stopping, positioning and composure in the penalty area.
