Yann Sommer

Yann Sommer is a Swiss goalkeeper born in Morges on 17 December 1988. He joined FC Basel's youth academy in 2003 and gained senior experience on loan at FC Vaduz from 2007 to 2009, helping the club earn promotion to the Swiss Super League. Returning to Basel, Sommer became the club's first-choice goalkeeper and won four consecutive Swiss Super League titles from 2011 to 2014. In 2014, he moved to Borussia Mönchengladbach, succeeding Marc-André ter Stegen and establishing himself across nearly nine seasons in the Bundesliga. Sommer produced a Bundesliga-record 19 saves against Bayern Munich in August 2022 before joining Bayern Munich in 2023, where he won the 2022–23 Bundesliga title. He then moved to Inter, helping them win the 2023–24 Serie A title while recording 19 clean sheets in 34 league appearances. For Switzerland, Sommer made 94 appearances before retiring internationally in August 2024; his penalty save from Kylian Mbappé at Euro 2020 helped send Switzerland to the quarter-finals.
