Yaimar Abel Medina Ortiz
Yaimar Abel Medina Ortiz is an Ecuadorian midfielder born on November 5, 2004, in Eloy Alfaro. He developed at Independiente del Valle, making his first-team debut in July 2022. Medina scored his first league goal in a 2–0 win over Aucas in June 2023, marking an early step into senior football. At youth international level, he helped Ecuador’s under-20s finish fourth at the 2023 South American Under-20 Championship and qualify for the World Cup. He made his senior Ecuador debut in September 2024, appearing against Brazil in a World Cup qualifier. In January 2025, he moved to Belgian club Genk, continuing his development in Europe. Though registered as a midfielder, Medina has also operated on the left, using his running and crossing to support attacks while contributing defensive coverage.
