Yannick Gerhardt

Yannick Gerhardt is a German midfielder born in Würselen on 13 March 1994. He began playing at SC Kreuzau 05, then joined the 1. FC Köln academy in 2003, where he developed through the youth ranks. Gerhardt progressed into Köln’s reserve side and made his professional debut during the 2013–14 2. Bundesliga season. He helped the club win promotion to the Bundesliga and made his top-flight debut in 2014. In July 2016, Gerhardt transferred to VfL Wolfsburg, where he established himself as a versatile midfielder able to contribute centrally or cover on the left. His role has included linking defence and attack, controlling possession and providing defensive cover. Gerhardt made his Germany senior debut in a friendly against Italy on 15 November 2016.
