Wessel Speel

Wessel Speel is a Dutch goalkeeper whose development began in the Netherlands. He joined FC Utrecht’s academy in 2017, where he trained with the club’s under-23s and senior first team. In 2020, Speel moved to the United States, spending three seasons at Hofstra University. He later transferred to Duke for the 2024 season, starting 19 matches and winning the ACC Goalkeeper of the Year award. Speel turned professional in 2025 with Minnesota United and later joined Shelbourne on loan. His European experience included UEFA qualifying appearances for Shelbourne. He is currently listed in the Almere City FC squad, adding another Dutch chapter to a career shaped by academy football, American college competition and professional opportunities abroad.
