William Alexander Trapp

William Alexander Trapp is a midfielder from Columbus, Ohio, who developed through Gahanna Lincoln High School and the University of Akron. After two collegiate seasons, he signed as a Homegrown Player with Columbus Crew in late 2012 and made his professional debut in 2013. Trapp became a first-team regular and, in 2014, was named a midseason All-Star before becoming the youngest captain in the club’s history. He helped Columbus reach the 2015 MLS Cup Final, establishing himself as a deep-lying midfielder who supported possession with accurate, progressive passing. Trapp joined Inter Miami CF in 2020 for the club’s inaugural season and moved to Minnesota United FC in 2021. He has represented the United States and captained the national team against Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2018, while continuing to provide Minnesota with experience and midfield structure.
