Wojciech Tomasz Szczęsny
Wojciech Tomasz Szczęsny is a Polish goalkeeper born in Warsaw on 18 April 1990. He developed with Agrykola Warsaw and Legia Warsaw before moving to Arsenal in 2006. After a loan at Brentford during the 2009–10 season, Szczęsny returned to North London and established himself as Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper. He shared the Premier League Golden Glove in 2013–14, recording 16 clean sheets, before joining Roma on loan in 2015. His two seasons in Italy led to a permanent move to Juventus in 2017, where he succeeded Gianluigi Buffon and won three Serie A titles and three Coppa Italia trophies. For Poland, he became an international goalkeeper and saved a penalty from Lionel Messi at the 2022 World Cup. After announcing his retirement in August 2024, Szczęsny returned to football by signing for Barcelona in October that year, beginning a new chapter in Spain.
