Vinicius de Souza Costa

Vinicius Souza is a Brazilian midfielder born on 17 June 1999 in Rio de Janeiro. He developed at Flamengo, joining the club’s youth setup in 2014 before making his senior debut in a 2019 draw with Vasco da Gama. After Gustavo Cuéllar’s departure, coach Jorge Jesus promoted Vinicius Souza to the first-team group, where he contributed to Flamengo’s 2019 Copa Libertadores and Série A triumphs, as well as state-title successes. In 2020, he moved to Lommel in Belgium to continue his development in Europe. A loan to KV Mechelen followed in 2021, then another loan took him to Espanyol in Spain in 2022. He joined Sheffield United in 2023 and became an important defensive presence in midfield. Vinicius Souza later moved to VfL Wolfsburg, continuing his career in the Bundesliga.
