Vladimír Coufal

Vladimír Coufal is a Czech defender whose career developed from regional football into the Bundesliga. After leaving Baník Ostrava as a teenager, he continued his development with ŠSK Bílovec before beginning his professional rise at Hlučín and on loan with SFC Opava. Coufal joined Slovan Liberec in 2012, established himself as a first-team regular and helped the club win the Czech Cup in 2015. In 2018, he moved to Slavia Praha, where his energetic defending and overlapping from the right supported three consecutive league titles. He transferred to West Ham United in 2020 and quickly became a dependable Premier League full-back. Coufal started West Ham’s 2–1 victory over Fiorentina in the 2023 UEFA Europa Conference League final, winning European silverware in Prague. In 2025, he joined 1899 Hoffenheim on a free transfer, bringing experience and defensive discipline to his new club.
