Urko González de Zárate Quirós

Urko González is a Spanish midfielder born in Vitoria-Gasteiz on 20 March 2001. He began in Deportivo Alavés’ youth setup before joining Real Sociedad’s Zubieta academy. González made his Real Sociedad C debut in February 2019 and moved into the club’s reserve side, Sanse, for the 2020–21 season. He made his senior La Liga debut on 20 September 2020 against Real Madrid, replacing Ander Guevara in a 0–0 draw. During his development, he operated as both a central defender and a defensive midfielder, and he played 35 matches in the Segunda División during 2021–22. Real Sociedad promoted him to the first team in 2024, before he joined Espanyol on loan in January 2025. Espanyol subsequently made the move permanent in August 2025, and González has continued his career as a defensive or central midfielder.
