Unai Marrero Larrañaga

Unai Marrero is a Spanish goalkeeper from San Sebastián who developed at Real Sociedad. He began playing at CD Lagun Onak before joining Real Sociedad’s Zubieta academy in 2016. Marrero made his senior debut for the club’s C team in September 2019, gaining experience in the Spanish lower divisions. On 10 October 2021, he entered a Segunda División match for the reserves against Ponferradina after Andoni Zubiaurre was sent off, helping Sanse secure a 1–1 draw. He subsequently established himself in the B team and progressed into Real Sociedad’s first-team setup. Marrero made his La Liga debut against Alavés on 2 January 2024 after Alex Remiro’s dismissal, helping the side draw. In January 2026, he won a Copa del Rey shootout against Osasuna, before keeping a clean sheet against Athletic Club in the semi-final second leg.
