Unai López Cabrera

Unai López is a Spanish midfielder from Errenteria, born on 30 October 1995. He developed in the Basque football system and joined Athletic Club’s Lezama academy as a teenager. López made his Athletic first-team debut in August 2014, appearing in the Champions League qualifying victory over Napoli. Seeking regular senior football, he spent the 2016–17 season with Leganés and then joined Rayo Vallecano for the 2017–18 campaign. At Rayo, he played an important role in the team’s Segunda División title-winning season before returning to Athletic Club. López moved back to Rayo Vallecano in July 2022 and has remained part of the Madrid-based side’s midfield. His game combines short passing, ball progression and set-piece delivery, while his experience has allowed him to operate as both an advanced and central midfielder.
