Umut Güneş

Umut Güneş is a midfielder born in Albstadt, Germany, on 16 March 2000, and holds Turkish nationality. He developed in VfB Stuttgart’s academy, progressing through the club’s under-17 and under-19 teams before helping win the German Under-19 Cup in 2018–19. In August 2019, Güneş moved to Alanyaspor, where he made his professional debut later that year and established himself in Süper Lig midfield. His role evolved from a box-to-box presence into a deeper playmaking position, with passing and positional discipline central to his game. Trabzonspor signed Umut Güneş in September 2023, and he later joined İstanbul Başakşehir in February 2025. At Başakşehir, he operates as a central or defensive midfielder, offering a build-up outlet, circulating possession and looking to progress play through the lines. His youth international pathway included Türkiye teams from under-17 to under-21 level.
