Thiago Emiliano da Silva

Thiago Silva, born in Rio de Janeiro on 22 September 1984, is a Brazilian right-footed centre-back. He began his senior career with RS Futebol, moved to Juventude in 2004, and was converted from midfield to central defence. After a spell with Porto B, a loan to Dynamo Moscow was interrupted by tuberculosis; he recovered and returned to Brazil, joining Fluminense in 2006. At Fluminense, Silva helped win the 2007 Copa do Brasil before moving to AC Milan in 2009. He then joined Paris Saint-Germain in 2012, captained the side and won seven Ligue 1 titles during an eight-year spell. In 2020, Silva signed for Chelsea and helped the club win the UEFA Champions League in his first season. He returned to Fluminense in 2024, while his international career saw him represent Brazil and win the 2019 Copa América.
