Takehiro Tomiyasu

Takehiro Tomiyasu is a Japanese right-back from Fukuoka, born on 5 November 1998. He developed at Avispa Fukuoka, moving from defensive midfield to centre-back before making his senior debut and establishing himself in Japan. In 2018, Tomiyasu moved to Sint-Truiden in Belgium, where he became a regular defender and earned the club’s Player of the Year award for 2018–19. His performances led to a transfer to Bologna in 2019, and Serie A broadened his experience across central defence and right-back. Arsenal signed him in 2021, where his disciplined defending, aerial ability and capacity to operate on either flank added flexibility to the back line. Tomiyasu also became an important Japan international, featuring at the 2022 FIFA World Cup and in Asian Cup campaigns. His career has since been shaped by defensive versatility and recurring fitness setbacks.
