Tom Alexander Rothe

Tom Alexander Rothe is a German defender born in Rendsburg on 29 October 2004. He began his development at regional clubs before joining FC St. Pauli’s academy in 2018. In 2021, Rothe moved to Borussia Dortmund, where he helped the under-19 side win the 2021/22 Bundesliga title. He made his Bundesliga debut against Wolfsburg in April 2022, scoring a header as a 17-year-old. A 2023/24 loan to Holstein Kiel gave Rothe regular experience as a left wing-back, and he contributed to the club’s promotion to the Bundesliga. He signed for Union Berlin in August 2024, continuing to develop between defensive and wide roles. Rothe has also represented Germany at under-20 and under-21 level. At 1.93 metres, he offers size in aerial contests while supporting attacks from the flank.
