John David Muse III

Trey Muse, formally John David Muse III, is an American goalkeeper born in Louisville in 1999. He developed with Derby City Rovers before joining the Seattle Sounders academy in 2015, making 32 starts for the U-18s across two seasons. In 2017, he helped Seattle reach third place in the USSDA playoffs and represented the United States at under-18 level. At Indiana University, Muse started all 25 matches as a freshman, leading the nation in goals-against average, shutouts and save percentage while helping the Hoosiers reach the College Cup final. He later became Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year and a MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist. Seattle signed him as its 11th Homegrown player in 2019, followed by loan spells with Tacoma Defiance, San Diego Loyal and Memphis 901. After starting 33 matches and recording 13 clean sheets for the Charleston Battery in 2023, Muse moved to the Portland Timbers in 2024.
