Tyler Austin Miller

Tyler Austin Miller is an American goalkeeper born in Woodbury on March 12, 1993. He developed in New Jersey with Pittsgrove SC before starring for Northwestern from 2011 to 2014, becoming the program’s all-time shutout leader with 36 and earning three All-Big Ten First Team selections. Drafted 33rd overall by Seattle Sounders in 2015, Miller initially played in Germany with SVN Zweibrücken before returning to Seattle and featuring primarily for Sounders 2. Los Angeles FC selected him first in the 2017 MLS Expansion Draft, and he became the club’s inaugural starting goalkeeper, recording 10 shutouts in 2018. Miller helped LAFC win the 2019 Supporters’ Shield, starting 28 matches and registering nine shutouts. He later played for Minnesota United and DC United, where his distribution and willingness to sweep beyond the penalty area suited Wayne Rooney’s high-line approach. Miller has represented the United States at under-18, under-20 and under-23 levels, joined the 2019 Gold Cup roster, and later returned to MLS with Charlotte FC.
