Thomas David Heaton

Thomas David Heaton is an English goalkeeper born in Chester on 15 April 1986. He developed at Wrexham, where he played both in goal and midfield, before joining Manchester United’s academy in 2002. He won the FA Youth Cup in 2003, then became first-choice goalkeeper for United’s reserve side during the 2004–05 season. Between 2005 and 2010, loan spells took him to Swindon Town, Royal Antwerp, Cardiff City, Queens Park Rangers, Rochdale and Wycombe Wanderers. After leaving United permanently, he spent time with Cardiff City and Bristol City before joining Burnley in 2013. He helped Burnley win promotion in 2013–14, keeping 19 league clean sheets, and played every minute of their 2014–15 Premier League campaign. His Burnley form brought three England caps between 2016 and 2017 and a place at UEFA Euro 2016. After injuries affected his progress at Burnley and Aston Villa, he returned to Manchester United in 2021, making his United debut against Young Boys in the Champions League that December.
