Taneli Hämäläinen
Taneli Hämäläinen is a Finnish defender born in Kuopio on 16 April 2001. He developed in the KuPS academy before progressing to senior football with affiliated side SC KuFu-98. Between 2018 and 2020, Hämäläinen made 28 appearances and scored once for KuFu-98. He made his Veikkausliiga debut for KuPS in 2020 and established himself in the club’s senior squad. Primarily a centre-back, he has also operated at right-back and left-back, giving KuPS options across the defence. Hämäläinen helped KuPS win the Finnish Cup in 2021, 2022 and 2024, as well as the Veikkausliiga title in 2024 and 2025. He joined ADO Den Haag in December 2024 and returned to KuPS on loan in August 2025. Internationally, he represented Finland Under-21s 12 times between 2021 and 2022.
