Thibaut Nicolas Marc Courtois

Thibaut Nicolas Marc Courtois is a Belgian goalkeeper born in Bree on 11 May 1992, standing 200 centimetres tall. He began playing as a left-back for Bilzen V.V. before joining Genk at seven and converting to goalkeeping. Courtois broke into Genk’s first team in 2009, became the club’s established starter in 2010–11, and helped Genk win the Belgian Pro League that season. Chelsea signed him in 2011 and sent him to Atlético Madrid, where he won the Europa League in 2012 and La Liga in 2014, while also earning two Ricardo Zamora Trophies. Returning to Chelsea in 2014, Courtois won Premier League titles in 2015 and 2017. He moved to Real Madrid in 2018 and has since added La Liga and Champions League honours, including the 2022 final, when he made nine saves in a 1–0 victory over Liverpool. Courtois also represents Belgium, combining reach and aerial command with patient one-on-one positioning and increasingly assured distribution.
