Thomas Castella

Thomas Castella is a Swiss goalkeeper born in Fribourg on 30 June 1993. He began at Team Fribourg AFF/FFV before developing in the Neuchâtel Xamax academy. In 2012, he moved to Lausanne-Sport from Neuchâtel Xamax FCS II. After initially working toward a regular role, Castella helped Lausanne-Sport win the Swiss Challenge League in 2015–16, securing promotion. He established himself in the Super League and was named by Blick as its best goalkeeper during the 2017–18 season, although Lausanne-Sport were relegated. Back in the second tier, he recorded 14 clean sheets in 30 matches during 2019–20, helping the club earn another promotion. His performances also brought him the 2019 Brack Challenge League Best Goalkeeper award. Castella remains with Lausanne, where his long association has made him a notable figure in Swiss football.
