Timo Baumgartl
Timo Baumgartl is a German defender born in Böblingen on March 4, 1996. He developed in the Stuttgart area, moving through GSV Maichingen and SSV Reutlingen before joining VfB Stuttgart’s academy in 2011. After making his professional debut for VfB Stuttgart II in 2013, Baumgartl reached the Bundesliga with the senior side in 2014 and helped Stuttgart win the 2. Bundesliga title in 2017. In 2019, he transferred to PSV Eindhoven, gaining Europa League experience before moving to Union Berlin on loan in 2021. At Union, he contributed to a fifth-place finish and Europa League qualification. A testicular tumor discovered in 2022 was followed by surgery and chemotherapy, and Baumgartl returned to play in September that year. He joined FC Schalke 04 in 2023, left by mutual agreement in August 2024, and continued his career with St. Louis City.
