Sergio Carreira Vilariño

Sergio Carreira is a Spanish right-back born in Vigo on 13 October 2000. He began playing at Coruxo FC before joining Celta’s youth academy in 2012, initially developing as a forward and later moving into defence. Carreira made his senior debut for Celta B in November 2018 and went on to establish himself with more than 100 reserve-team appearances. He reached La Liga with Celta in October 2020, making his top-flight debut against Atlético Madrid. To continue his development, he spent 2021–22 at Mirandés, 2022–23 with Villarreal B and 2023–24 at Elche. Those spells gave Sergio Carreira experience across Spain’s top two divisions before his return to Celta for the 2024–25 season. A technically accomplished defender, he has also been used in wider or inverted roles and can contribute to build-up play while covering either flank.
