Samuel Jumpe Soares

Samuel Jumpe Soares is a Portuguese goalkeeper born in Sintra on 15 June 2002. He began his youth development with URD Tires in 2010 before joining Benfica in 2013, progressing through the club’s age groups at Seixal. In 2021, Soares made his Benfica B debut in a 5–0 victory over Nacional. The following season, he started Benfica’s UEFA Youth League-winning team, keeping a clean sheet in the 6–0 final against Red Bull Salzburg, and later helped the club win the U20 Intercontinental Cup against Peñarol. Soares joined Benfica’s first-team setup in 2022–23 and made his Primeira Liga debut as a late substitute in the 3–0 title-clinching win over Santa Clara on 27 May 2023. He also started three consecutive league matches at the beginning of the next season, recording two clean sheets. Soares has represented Portugal at under-21 level.
