Silvan Dominic Widmer
Silvan Dominic Widmer is a Swiss right-back born in Aarau on 5 March 1993. He developed with SV Würenlos and FC Baden before joining FC Aarau, where he made his professional debut in the Swiss Challenge League in 2011. Widmer scored his first professional goal against St. Gallen later that year and helped Aarau win the Challenge League in 2012/13. Udinese signed him in 2012, and he subsequently established himself in Serie A during a five-season spell with the Italian club. In 2018, he returned to Switzerland with FC Basel, helping the side win the Swiss Cup in 2018/19. Widmer moved to FSV Mainz 05 in July 2021 and has continued to operate primarily at right-back, with wing-back and occasional left-sided duties. He made his Switzerland debut in 2014 and represented the national team at EURO 2020, the 2022 World Cup and EURO 2024.
