Shogo Taniguchi
Shogo Taniguchi is a Japanese centre-back born in Kumamoto on 15 July 1991. He developed in Japan before attending the University of Tsukuba, then joined Kawasaki Frontale in 2014. Taniguchi established himself as a regular defender and later captained the club during a nine-season spell. He helped Kawasaki win four J1 League titles, in 2017, 2018, 2020 and 2021, plus the 2019 J.League Cup, the 2020 Emperor’s Cup and Japanese Super Cups in 2019 and 2021. He made his Japan debut against Iraq in June 2015 and featured at the 2022 World Cup, starting against Spain and Croatia. In July 2024, Taniguchi moved to Belgian club St. Truiden. He remains part of Japan’s international setup while bringing extensive domestic and international experience to St. Truiden.
