Simone Scuffet

Simone Scuffet is an Italian goalkeeper born in Udine on 31 May 1996. He joined Udinese’s academy at 11 and made his senior debut in February 2014, aged 17, replacing injured starter Zeljko Brkic against Bologna and keeping a clean sheet. His composed performances quickly made him one of Serie A’s most discussed young goalkeepers, although he later spent periods outside Udinese’s starting XI as Orestis Karnezis took the role. Scuffet rebuilt his career through loan experiences and a spell with APOEL Nicosia, where he returned to regular goalkeeping and played in European competition. After establishing himself with CFR Cluj in Romania, he returned to Serie A by joining Cagliari in 2023. At Cagliari, Scuffet challenged for and secured the starting position, bringing greater experience to his positioning and communication. Standing 1.93 metres, he combines reflex saves and low-shot coverage with a willingness to claim crosses, while his distribution generally favours safe short passes or clearances.
