Stefan Ortega Moreno

Stefan Ortega Moreno is a German goalkeeper born in Calden on 6 November 1992. He developed in North Hessian football with TSV Jahn Calden, KSV Baunatal and KSV Hessen Kassel before joining Arminia Bielefeld’s youth academy in 2007. Ortega made his senior debut for Bielefeld in 2011 and later moved to 1860 Munich in 2014, where he established himself as a first-choice goalkeeper. He returned to Arminia in 2017, producing strong performances during the club’s Bundesliga and relegation battles while contributing with his distribution. In July 2022, Ortega joined Manchester City on a free transfer and became a dependable deputy to Ederson. He started every match in City’s 2023 FA Cup campaign, conceding once across six games, and was in goal as City defeated Manchester United 2–1 in the final. Ortega also made a Champions League clean-sheet appearance against Borussia Dortmund and covered important Premier League fixtures during the 2023–24 season.
